The average rainfall in Swaziland is 750mm. The country experiences heavy rainfall during the summer season, with December and January being the wettest months. Swaziland is prone to droughts, particularly during the winter season.

The country is located in a semi-arid region and as such, water shortages are a common occurrence. Swaziland is also susceptible to cyclones and floods. The most recent cyclone to affect the country was Cyclone Dineo in 2017, which caused damage to infrastructure and crops.
